Downstage Youth Theatre Wednesday Workshops
The difference between a youth theatre and drama within schools is the restrictions placed on the students in terms of performances and texts studied. Working together as a theatre company we will be able to create performances that can cover any type of genre, character and setting.
Term 1 (September – October)
In term one, we will be using the workshops to build confidence skills and how they translate to Drama performances. We will look to create small drama performances, and use basic skills to create something unique.
As the term goes on the basic skills that we have learnt will be used to create more complicated drama and the theatre company will be given the opportunity to create their own devised performances based on these skills.
Term 2 (November – December)
In term two we will be adding more complex drama skills and learning how to work together more as a theatre company. We will learn how to create drama in larger groups while showing how to add characterisation to their repertoire. This will include the use of movement, accents and gestures, to help create characters far removed from the students’ own personality.
Each session will be charged at £6 per child per hour and will be payable in advance for the duration of that half term.
