I was raised in the North of England where my passion for Drama was realised during my school days and numerous school productions.
After leaving education, I moved to London and an acting career that included national tours of Romeo and Juliet and Twelfth Night, along with numerous adverts and voiceovers.
My love of teaching began when embarking on issue based school’s theatre tours which involved performing and creative workshops in many different schools and venues throughout the UK.
I saw first hand, just how the imagination of young people can create incredible pieces of Drama and this sparked my interest in teaching and working with them.
I have now been teaching and acting, in one capacity or another for 20 years and my passion for acting is unwavering.
“I love acting. It is so much more real than life” – Oscar Wilde
I was born and raised in Essex and always loved the idea of being creative within my own business.
Having gained a degree in Entertainment Industry Management, I moved in to retail management where I stayed for a number of years, before starting a family and becoming a stay at home parent
I am passionate about education and am currently Chair of the PTA at my children’s school, organising a number of events and activities throughout the year. All of this helps to raise money and the profile of the school, as well as to generate much needed funds to contribute towards the school going forward.
I am very passionate about the importance of Drama in young people’s lives and have personally experienced how discovering Drama can boost self esteem, confidence and give skills that are transferable in the workplace.
Therefore I am very excited about the impact Downstage Youth Theatre can have for young people.
